I work with leaders and teams where responsibility is high and the system has become hard to manage. As organisations grow, change or interconnect, problems rarely come from a lack of capability. They come from increasing complexity. Decisions carry more consequence. Roles stretch and blur. Autonomy works until it doesn’t. Pressure shows up in subtle but costly ways. My work is about helping capable people think, decide and relate well in those conditions. I bring over 25 years of leadership experience from inside complex organisations, including senior roles in the NHS and the National Institute for Health Research. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I was part of the executive team that led the UK’s urgent research response, recruiting over one million participants in one year, under intense time and political pressure. Alongside this, I have studied leadership at Ashridge, innovation at INSEAD, and improvement theory at Warwick Business School. I am known internationally for my work on self-managing teams and progressive organisational design. Clients include ARIA (Advanced Research + Invention Agency), Patagonia, NIHR, the NHS, Woodland Trust, Energy Garden and international scale-ups. People often describe my style as calm and non-judgemental. I work well with technically strong leaders, neurodivergent thinkers and teams operating without simple answers. I am not interested in quick fixes or performance theatre. My role is to create the conditions for clear thinking when the stakes are real.
