Helping people grow has always been my passion - from sparking curiosity in young learners to guiding adults through career transitions and employment. I knew from a young age that I was called to teach. For over eight years, I invested in the growth and development of students in third and fourth grades as a teacher and later trained educators as an Instructional Reading Coach with Orange County Public Schools. Over time, my career path expanded beyond the classroom. I have homeschooled my own children, managed an online boutique, and led small groups and workshops in ministry and volunteer roles - all of which developed my ability to connect, coach, and lead with compassion and purpose. Today, I serve as a Career Coach, equipping individuals with practical tools, encouragement, and personalized strategies to navigate the job market and find meaningful employment. I work with clients from all backgrounds, helping them identify their strengths, overcome barriers, and take confident next steps towards career success. Watching someone's eyes light up when a concept clicks has always been one of my greatest joys - whether it's a student decoding a word or a job seeker realizing they have what it takes to step into their next opportunity. Whether I'm creating a resume, leading a workshop, or walking alongside someone in a tough season, my goal is to empower and equip others to thrive personally and professionally.

Technical Skills that Excite I have had the pleasure of creating an entire makerspace curriculum, where none had existed before. I taught myself how to use the die cutters, 3D printers, and embroidery machines. As I developed the sequence of projects I learned that the real end game of a makerspace is to foster self-guided learners who create their own artifacts, which led me to include an element of creative exploration in our work. As a result, we now have 20 projects in 2D and 3D design, students are creating original projects and this technical learning is available to every student who comes into this program. Relationships Engage Learning Inspired to build positive relationships and create an environment that makes it safe for students to take risks. I led an effort to leverage the micro-challenges that we face in the classroom as opportunities to cultivate resilience and self-awareness, by normalizing failure and reiteration. We use mindfulness techniques, a community of shared struggle and self-care to promote brain regulation during difficult projects. These efforts have had a big impact on student engagement and eliminated the student “rage quit”. Community Partnerships that Provide Opportunity Passionate for developing community relationships that are mutually beneficial and create new opportunities for our youth and our organization. I’ve created a partnership with OMSI that provides customer service job training for our students and special consideration for summer job opportunities in the museum. We’ve also partnered with Multnomah County Library to promote digital literacy by developing and presenting free mobile makerspace workshops that our students support and sometimes even lead.

As a former First Generation student, it has brought me great joy to be able to help students be successful. I have dedicated my professional career to helping students achieve their academic goals and develop their passions. I started my professional career as a clinical therapist, but I later realized that education was where I wanted to dedicate my professional pursuits. I understood, because my own experiences, that an education can change the trajectory of an individual's life. I started my transition into higher education in 2010 and I've never looked back. I've had the privilege of working at a variety of institutions, but always in a role of direct service to students.
