As a Career Coach at the University of Washington Tacoma, I support students with career readiness, creating resumes and cover letters, interview preparation, and navigating the transition from college to life after graduation. Alongside this work, I’m pursuing a Master of Arts in Student Development Administration at Seattle University. Originally from Illinois, I took a nontraditional path through higher education as a community college student learning how to balance school and work. It took time, persistence, and multiple attempts to figure out how to be successful in college while supporting myself. After earning my associate degree, I stepped away from school to work full-time in a warehouse role, allowing me to save money and regain the stability I needed before returning to college. After relocating to Washington, I completed my bachelor’s degree at the University of Washington Tacoma and was named a Husky 100 awardee, an honor recognizing students who make the most of their time in college. For me, it was a full-circle moment, moving from struggling to navigate higher education to being recognized for making the most of my time in school by my senior year. These experiences shape how I approach my work. I’m especially passionate about supporting students who are navigating unfamiliar systems, balancing school with work and life responsibilities, or questioning what comes next after graduation. My goal is not only to help students access higher education, but to ensure they leave with the tools, confidence, and support needed to succeed beyond college.
