I am a dedicated QCF Level 6 qualified Careers Adviser, keen to help people reach their full potential and understand the options available to them. After nine years working in the public sector on the National Careers Service contract, supporting adults in a range of community and employer settings, it was time to diversify my experience. In June 2023 I began a new role as a Career Coach at Nottingham Trent University. In my role, I provide personalised guidance and support to help students explore various career paths, develop essential skills and identify opportunities aligned with their interests and goals. Whether its providing advice on how to enhance a CV, prepare for interviews or explore work experience opportunities, I am committed to equipping students with the tools and confidence they need to succeed. My Bachelor’s degree in Drama and Theatre Practice provided me with excellent awareness of the significance of skills such as creativity, communication and collaboration both in the workplace and beyond. These are skills I draw upon daily in my role, whether delivering workshops or during individual coaching appointments. I work in one of the largest university employability teams in the country. There are regularly new projects to get involved in which adds great variety to my role. Since starting I have written my first blog, attended two roundtable discussions with employers, hosted a number of Q&A panel events and also planned an interactive career activity event where students explored their career priorities, personality and differences in company values. I look forward to upcoming CPD opportunities that will help me to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of career development in higher education.
