WHAT I DO: * Help MBAs target, connect and land their dream jobs. * Boost job search confidence by coaching on best practices that work in today’s job search. * Empower people with the knowledge, motivation, and guidance to move their careers forward. * Stay current on the ever-chaining environments with resumes, LinkedIn, job search, professional branding and Interview techniques. MY CAREER SHIFT STORY: * After spending 14 years managing corporate banking relationships and loan portfolios with two international banks, I decided to shift focus from companies to people and pursued a master's in counseling. I dug deep and started over as an intern which led to my role as Career Strategist for MBAs and Alumni in the Career Management Center at Duke University- The Fuqua School of Business. It's never too late to make a shift and find meaningful work! WHAT MAKES ME SUCCESSFUL AT WHAT I DO: * I understand business, accounting and finance and have a knack for translating what people do into words that stand out on resumes and LinkedIn profiles. * I continue to learn and grow by going deep into content areas that help clients: Career Leader, MBTI, Gallup’s Strengths Assessment, National Certified Resume Writer (NCRW) and National Certified Online Profile Expert (NCOPE) * I do what I love at a great university with gifted colleagues: helping students and alumni identify and leverage their personal strengths, connecting students and alumni with resources to assist with career decisions and development, and collaborating with key stakeholders across Duke to optimize the student and alumni experience. CLIFTON STRENGTHS ASSESSMENT: * My drive to get things done and meet commitments (Achiever and Responsibility) balances out the time I spend in my head (input, intellection, learner)!!! – all driven by a deep relationship-building skillset (Empathy, Includer, Connectedness, Harmony) and desire to develop people (Developer). CORE COMPETENCIES: * Career Counseling

Hello LinkedIn World My name is Laura and I am a Career Coach & Trainer for career changers. I have had the privilege of assisting 450+ career switchers in their professional journeys. While helping them master the essentials, such as crafting impactful resumes and optimizing LinkedIn profiles, I also delve deeper into mindset and motivation. I firmly believe that a strong foundation in these areas is key to sustained career growth and fulfillment. Some of the most rewarding moments for me are seeing my students/clients stretch outside their comfort zone, try new strategies, and learn from their mistakes. Of course, there is always the reward in seeing them land that next job too. As a career switcher myself, I've led training initiatives for some pretty interesting groups ranging from the US military in the Middle East to mystery shoppers (yes, they really exist) in China. Each experience I've had along the way provided me with a chance to sharpen a skill and understand a new industry. When I’m not at work I am either out for a run, honing my negotiation skills as a parent, or unpacking from my last move. As a military spouse, I've moved 7x in 11 years which means I am just about as adaptable as they come. This also means that remote work has transformed my career. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Key Skills: resume review, resume writing, LinkedIn critiques, mock interviews, elevator pitch, training job seekers, program management, outcomes reporting, salary negotiation, networking, informational interviews, tech interviews, interviewing, veteran transition, mindset coaching, job placement, job search coaching Software That Powers What I Do: Monday.com, Asana, GradLeaders, Slack, TextExpander, ChatGPT
