Emily Griffith Technical College
Denver, United States
I help Emily Griffith Technical College students find employment in their chosen fields -- reach out if you have or know of any opportunities for our students and graduates in the Denver Metro Area! Originally an English and Humanities educator, I've taught mainly in Japanese and Australian secondary schools with a strong focus on vocational education, where I have developed strong skills in communication, collaboration, and intercultural understanding. Previous subjects I've taught include English as a Foreign Language, Society & the Environment (Psychology, Sociology, History, Geography), Japanese, and Theology, to students from diverse backgrounds and levels of proficiency. In Colorado, I most recently served as a Digital Navigator as part of the CO Department of Labor and Employment's Digital Equity pilot program, working one-on-one primarily with refugees and asylum seekers to navigate the job application, hiring, and onboarding process.

I bring experience from capital markets, strategy, and consulting (JPMorgan, Deloitte, Fidelity) to my work as a career coach. I partner with clients navigating career exploration, decision-making, and execution — particularly when balancing ambition, impact, and personal sustainability. For me, “flow” occurs when I’m helping people clarify what meaningful and engaging work looks like for them — and supporting them as they translate that clarity into action. I work closely with individuals to articulate their full value, refine their career narratives, and develop practical strategies for pursuing roles aligned with their skills, interests, and constraints. My background across both the private and non-profit sectors brings realism to these conversations, including an honest understanding of trade-offs, work styles, and hiring dynamics. I stay closely attuned to evolving market trends through ongoing collaboration with employers. Many students arrive at graduate school ready for change but uncertain about direction. It can be tempting to follow well-trodden paths or chase the latest “hot” opportunity. I offer a reflective, structured approach to career development — serving as a sounding board, accountability partner, and guide as students test ideas, strengthen applications, and move forward with intention. My coaching is informed in part by the concept of Ikigai, which I use as a practical framework for thinking about motivation, contribution, and long-term sustainability (see link in Featured section). I find deep satisfaction in supporting people as they make informed decisions and take purposeful steps toward work that reflects who they are and how they want to contribute. At Harvard, I’ve been proud to collaborate with colleagues across Harvard Kennedy School to foster a more inclusive and supportive community. As an immigrant to the U.S. from Ireland — and through extensive work with students from around the world — I bring a global outlook and a strong
