Bilingual public administration and community advocacy professional passionate about strengthening systems that support children, families, and underserved communities. My work and advocacy are deeply shaped by lived experience, community engagement, and a strong belief that families deserve to be heard, supported, and meaningfully included in the decisions that affect their lives. In October 2019, I welcomed my first child, Rosa Idalie. She was born with complex medical needs, including congenital heart defects, and through her life I was introduced to the world of public and nonprofit systems that support children and families. Navigating her care opened my eyes to both the strengths and gaps within these systems, and ultimately changed the direction of my life.Rosa transformed the way I view advocacy, leadership, and community. Her life strengthened my belief that parents deserve a seat at the table, and that communities thrive when support systems are accessible, equitable, and family-centered.Today, I work in community and family advocacy while continuing to stay involved in systems-level and community-based work across Nebraska. I contribute to maternal and child health efforts, serve on the Head Start Policy Council, and support heterotaxy advocacy in Rosa’s honor. I recently completed my Master of Public Administration, where much of my work focused on public systems, disability services, and family experiences navigating care and support systems. My goal is to continue working in spaces where lived experience, education, and community voice can come together to strengthen systems and help children and families thrive.
